Police have charged the man allegedly driving the motorcycle which crashed, killing a 10-year-old Bunbury girl last month.

The 46-year-old Waterloo man — a family friend of the young girl killed — is alleged to have had alcohol in his system and driving dangerously when the crash occurred on October 23 about 4pm.

The young girl was riding on the back of the off-road motorcycle along Clifton Road in Waterloo, before the driver failed to negotiate a left-hand bend and lost control, say police.

The girl died at the scene and the man was airlifted to Royal Perth Hospital with serious injuries.

Police will not provide an update on the man’s condition, but they have charged him with one count of dangerous driving causing death and driving with a blood alcohol level more than 0.08.

The man is due to appear in Bunbury Magistrate Court on December 1.
