Committee to take on Withers work

South Western Times

A Withers Advisory Committee will be established to review and progress community priorities listed under the Withers Action Plan.

The committee will be made up of community representatives, including two from the Withers Action Group, councillors and city staff.

In June, 2011, the council voted to spend $300,000 a year, over five years, totalling $1.5 million on priorities named in the Withers Action Plan.

At least half of the money remains unspent.

Action group convenor Glen Willetts said the committee would be a simple and easy way to manage the problems the group and council faced.

The council is also closing a number of laneways in the suburb, the number one priority named by the community.
