Coolio coup for Southbound
Southbound is set to sizzle once again after the first array of artists were announced last week.
The first instalment of artists at the popular Busselton summer music festival include Beach House, Boy & Bear, Best Coast, Coolio, The Flaming Lips, SBTRKT and The Vaccines.
There is certainly something for all music tastes, from rap, to folk and rock.
Rap superstar Coolio, who was made world famous by his song Gangsta’s Paradise — one of the the most famous rap songs of all time — will venture to Southbound for the first time in what was arguably the biggest shock among the initial handful of artists announced.
Coolio has been dropping hits and acting up a storm since reaching the top of the charts in 1995, pumping out hit tracks such as1,2,3,4 (Sumpin New), Too Hot, Gangsta Walk and Fantastic Voyage.
He has evenmade a guest appearance on cartoon Futurama.
Boy & Bear, who visited Bunbury earlier this year for a show at Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre as part of their national tour, are sure to draw a massive crowd.
The Sydney-based five-piece folk band — consisting of Killian Gavin, Jonathon Hart, Timothy Hart, David Hosking and Jacob Tarasenko — have grown into one of the biggest acts in the country with hit singles Feeding Line, Rabbit Song, Mexican Mavis and Fall at Your Feet.
With an amazing five ARIA awards and countless sold-out shows around the globe, the band will be an act not to be missed.
The two-day music, camping and arts festival, will once again take place at Sir Stewart Bovell Park in Busselton on January 4 and 5.
