Marlston Waterfront Markets operator Paul McBride is likely to continue as the Sunday market operator after he made an impassioned plea to the Bunbury City Council last night.

Busselton woman Caroline Beamond had been put to the council as the recommended market operator but Mr McBride said choosing Ms Beamond would be the ‘’morally wrong decision’’.

The market is expected to move to Bicentennial Square after it was shut down last year due to a number of complaints from surrounding businesses about reduced sales and traffic problems.

After a closed door discussion the council decided Mr McBride and not Ms Beamond should be recommended as the market operator.

A decision is expected to be made at next week’s full council meeting.
