A South West accounting firm hosted the BKR International Asia Pacific Conference held in Perth on the weekend.

Bunbury's AMD Chartered Accountants joined global accounting association BKR International in 2013 and director Tim Partridge said the reason they joined the organisation was due to their clients' changing needs.

"Our clients have international needs and we are going to continue to see technology changes so being part of BKR allows us to meet the needs of our clients better," Mr Partridge said.

"We can share information and have access to international contacts."

A group of delegates from international companies were greeted with drinks and canapes at Casellas on Friday before the conference began.

"Our guests were surprised at how progressive Bunbury was and what it had to offer. After the drinks everyone went back to Perth for the start of the conference and it was great to have them in Bunbury," he said.

Bunbury MLA John Castrilli invited West Australian Treasurer Dr Mike Nahan to the conference, who spoke on topics related to the industry.

National Australia Bank head economist David De Garis also spoke at the event, along with other industry professionals.

The conference finished on Monday and Mr Partridge said it was a success and put the Bunbury-based company on an international stage.
