Donors needed ahead of brave shave

South Western Times

The hairstyle of two Bunbury vets is in the hands of donors’ generosity, as the date for World’s Greatest Shave draws near.

Bunbury Veterinary Clinic vets Braden Collins and Joe Cockerill will have their heads shaved for the fundraising event – either by the clinic’s dog groomer or nurses.

“If we raise less than $1000, our dog groomer Rachel Smith with shave our heads and we’ll have stubble left over, ” Dr Collins said.

“If we raise more than $1000 then the nurses will go at us with scalpels and we’ll be completely bald.”

Dr Collins and Dr Cockerill decided to take part in the World’s Greatest Shave which raises funds for the Leukaemia Foundation

So far, the clinic has raised about $90 for World’s Greatest Shave and Dr Collins is encouraging the public to get involved.

“We’re asking everyone to put their hands in their pockets to donate some money towards this very worthy cause, ” he said.

Dr Collins took part in the World’s Greatest Shave last year but the March 15 event will be a first for Dr Cockerill.

“If everyone could step up now, we’d gain more benefits for the future when we or someone we love is in need of the funding or services for cancer treatment, ” Dr Collins said.

Visit the Bunbury Veterinary Clinic or its website to donate to the World’s Greatest Shave by noon on March 15.
