Dull tank gets a makeover

South Western Times

The water tank behind the Capel Community Centre has been given a colourful makeover.

The painting of the previously dull grey tank, which services the shire administration building and the Community Centre, took the community and professional artists three days to complete.

The tank is part of the council’s Waterwise Project and holds more than 100,000 litres.

The water-themed mural now shows scenes which represent different parts of Capel including the annual Capel Descent and the region’s close locality to both water and bushland.

The project was coordinated by Capel community development officer Donna Sims, who enlisted the local youth group Fuzion and two graffiti artists Dan Duggan and Darren Hutchens to do the final touches.

Funding for the artwork came from Healthway’s Act, Belong, Commit program and the council’s drought relief grant.
