Youth from Greater Bunbury can enjoy free live music, games and snacks at the Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre this afternoon, as a part of Youth Week.

FREE4YOUth is a free, two-hour event for 12 to 25-year-olds. It introduces young people to their local theatre by offering free entertainment in a fun, informal atmosphere.

BREC marketing administration assistant Therese Colman said the event was being staged to coincide with National Youth Week.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity for teens to come down after school and hang out with their friends and listen to live music as term one winds down, ” she said.

“We wanted a local youth band to be involved, and it’s a great performance opportunity for those who might want to take their music career further.

“The whole vibe of the afternoon should be fantastic.”

Ms Colman said there would be prizes to give away from Jet Juice and Hillzeez, tickets to the SPLAT! Show and scholarships for an upcoming circus workshop.

Bunbury Senior High School students Nikita Smit, 16, and Jordan Reimers, 15, will play two musical sets at the event.

Jordan said the duo was excited to perform at the Free4Youth event.

“We like performing so we are excited and going to enjoy it, ” she said.

“We play a lot of the stuff we like to hear on the radio.”

FREE4YOUth runs from 3.30pm today at the Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre.
