Family cancer inspired morning tea fundraiser
One Donnybrook woman is using her love of her aunt as inspiration for a morning tea aimed at raising money for breast cancer.
Rosie Licciardello said the money raised from the morning tea would go towards the Cancer Council’s Relay For Life.
“We’re focusing more on breast cancer because that’s what’s affected our family,” she said.
Miss Licciardello’s aunt Connie Fogliani was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009.
“I’m one of the main ones the morning tea is being held for,” Mrs Fogliani said.
Miss Licciardello said she had not done enough fundraising for Relay For Life team Connie’s Crew this year because Mrs Fogliani had been sick.
“This is the first morning tea we will have held and I’d like to see more held over the years,” Miss Licciardello said.
Mrs Fogliani said every little bit of money helped to fight cancer.
The morning tea will include homemade sweet and savoury foods, as well as tea and coffee.
There will also be a raffle and possibly a few prizes to give away.
The inaugural morning tea will be held at the Snack Shack in Donnybrook from 10.30am on Tuesday, August 20 and there are only 30 tickets available.
“If there are people who have food intolerances, we’re more than happy to cater for them, we just ask that you let us know,” Miss Licciardello said.
Tickets are available from the Snack Shack on Collins Street or calling 9731 2331.
