A young father was savagely bashed by three men who tried to steal his bicycle as he entered a fast-food restaurant in Bunbury on Sunday night.

Ben Hartley, 24, was left with a broken cheekbone, multiple small fractures and extensive bruising after the attack at the Bussell Highway restaurant.

He was treated at Bunbury Hospital for head injuries on Sunday night and may face surgery to repair his damaged cheekbone.

Mr Hartley arrived at the restaurant where he works at 9.20pm on Sunday and was approached by the three strangers.

One of the men then tried to take Mr Hartley’s bike from him then head butted him.

The victim attempted to escape his attackers inside the restaurant but they followed punching him repeatedly before one man stomped on his head.

South West Detectives are investigating the attack.

South West acting Insp. Peter Jenal described the attack as callous and brutal.

He said he had never seen an attack like it in Bunbury.

Mr Hartley’s attackers were described as slim, about 180cm tall and all wearing dark clothing.

Insp. Jenal said one of the men was wearing a dark hoodie and another had ginger-blonde hair.
