Fiery finale for Bull and Barrel
One of Russell Sheridan's spectacular fire sculptures will once again provide the highlight for the 12th LiveLighter Dardanup Bull and Barrel Festival this Saturday.
Standing an impressive 4m tall, this year's Bull takes the form of an aeroplane in keeping with the festival's "Celebrating the World" theme and sports a 12m wingspan and a pilot.
Mr Sheridan put the winged bull together over the past three weeks with the help of Rob Gardiner.
Always happy to see his creations go up in flames, Mr Sheridan said his only concern was that it would not burn after some difficulties in the past.
That won't be a problem with pryotechnician Francesco Mazzella handling the incendiary task this year.
Mr Mazzella's involvement will see the annual Burning of the Bull enhanced with theatrical pyrotechnic elements, including Catherine wheel fireworks.
The free event showcases the Dardanup and Ferguson Valley region and will run from 10am.
The burning will be the finale for the LiveLighter Festival, but there are plenty of other attractions on offer, including a Farmers Market, Scitech displays and multicultural dance displays.
The wood for the bull was donated by Westpine and is scheduled to go up in flames at 8.15pm.
