Fire brings candle warning

HAYDN TUIASouth Western Times

Fire has caused an estimated $50,000 damage to a Carey Park home this morning.

No one was injured and fire crews arrived at the Absolon Street property shortly after 7am and quickly extinguished the flames.

The fire was caused by candles and Bunbury Fire Station Officer Dave Young reminded residents to be fire safe as cold weather set in.

``They did have hard-wired smoke detectors and they woke up the occupants,'' Mr Young said.

``It's a timely reminder - with this colder weather, the heaters and candles come out.''
