Fire causes smoke hazard to motorists
A warning has been issued to motorists travelling on or near Old Coast Road between Forestry Road, Myalup and Marriot Road, Australind to be extremely careful as they may be affected by smoke.
The smoke is being caused by a bush fire which is burning between Marriot Road and Wellesley Road near the Wellesley River.
Motorists should take extreme caution when driving through smoke and low visibility.
FESA advises that you follow to these simple precautions if encountering smoke on the road:
Turn headlights on to make your vehicle more visible to others
Drive slowly
Keep a close watch for firefighters and emergency service vehicles on the road
Always follow any directions given by emergency service personnel
If you cannot see clearly, turn around and drive to a clear area. Pull over to the side of the road, keep vehicle headlights and hazard lights on, and wait until the smoke clears.

The intersection of Rosamel Road and Marriot Road.
The intersection of Wellesley Road north and Marriot Road.
The intersection of Old Coast Road and Wellesley Road.
