Focus on a positive future for Withers

LESLEE HALLSouth Western Times

The findings of public consultation regarding the future of the suburb of Withers will be announced at a meeting today ahead of the final report on an urban renewal strategy being released by the South West Development Commission and the City of Bunbury.

The urban renewal strategy will be used to guide the future development and investment of the suburb.

South West Development Commission director Don Punch said the meeting would be an opportunity to find out what issues, opportunities and strengths had been identified.

``We are not too far away from releasing the final report which will contain recommendations for enhancing the suburb,'' Mr Punch said.

``In the meantime, we will be holding this meeting to announce the findings from the community consultation process.''

Bunbury MLA John Castrilli said many residents had said it was time to focus on the positives of Withers at the meeting he attended.

``There are some concerns which residents would like to see addressed, however an important part of the process is also to look at the strengths of the suburb and how we can build on them,'' Mr Castrilli said.

The meeting will be held at the Husdon Road Family Centre today at 3.30pm and to register, phone 9792 7000.
