Food and wine the star in Donnybrook
Some of the region’s finest food and wine will be up for grabs later this month at the Donnybrook Food and Wine Festival.
Thousands of people have attended the event in previous years to sample international food and local wines and produce.
Festival spokeswoman Kate Shaw said there would be more than 50 stalls on display.
“The main aim of the event is to promote local food and wine producers, but also bring in stalls from outside the region too,” she said.
“We hope the festival will showcase the region’s great wines and local food and bring people into town to enjoy a relaxing day together on the banks of the amphitheatre.”
Some of this year’s highlights are demonstrations from paddock to plate chefs Brent and Tracei Taylor, who have worked in London and Perth.
A variety of musicians from the South West will provide live entertainment for the day.
There will also be a bouncy castle, face painting and wine and olive oil appreciation talks.
Tapa-Licious owner Tanya Punch, who will have a stall at the event, said the festival provided a great platform to showcase the region’s produce and food businesses.
“I’m looking forward to it, I don’t have a set menu but I’m thinking of a ‘street food from around the world theme’,” she said.
The festival relies heavily on the support of local businesses who sponsor the event and a team of volunteers. The festival is on November 26 from 10am to 5pm and entry is free.
