Bunbury Football Club league coach Ryan Pitts is driven by developing the young talent he has at his disposal, with an eye firmly on the future.

The board announced late last week they had signed Pitt on for a sixth season - a club record for most consecutive seasons coached and second on the all-time list behind Peter Betti - despite the Bulldogs finishing on the bottom of the ladder.

Last season Pitts lost many of his experienced players, with the club changing its direction and focusing on home grown talent in an attempt to have sustainable success.

Pitts said it was this plan which excited him the most and made him want to continue as coach.

"To go forward with these players and coaching staff is a fantastic opportunity," he said.

"I want them (the younger players) to develop into strong players for the club.

"It is exciting times ahead with a good, young group."

Bunbury Football Club football director Daniel Johnston said the board decided to retain last year's entire coaching staff, which meant Brett Maguire would continue as colts coach and Scott Buswell with the reserves.

"We were absolutely rapt with how the young guys came through this year," he said.

"We think we have a lot of upside going forward."

Johnston said the club had also retained assistant coaches Shane Nani, Troy Hollands and Travis McGuire.
