Forrest Highway reopened

Kate Fielding, SOUTH WESTERN TIMESSouth Western Times

Forrest Highway has been reopened this morning, after it was closed on Thursday due to the bushfire near Harvey.

Main Roads WA this morning gave the all clear for the highway to reopen in both directions from Mandurah to Bunbury.

However, the speed limit has been reduced to 80kmh in a 10km section between Old Coast Road and Ludlow Road, which was affected by the fire.

A Main Roads WA spokesman said drivers needed to drive with caution due to the risk of straying livestock and the presence of emergency service vehicles still on the highway.

South Western Highway remains closed from Greenlands Road to Uduc Road.

Old Coast Road also remains closed from Old Bunbury Road to Forrest Highway.

A watch and act warning remains in place this morning for Harvey, Yarloop and surrounding areas as most of the fire has been contained, but not controlled.

Department of Fire and Emergency Services has warned the south-east corner of the fire has not been contained, but firefighters are continuing their attempts to supress it.
