At least three birds have been freed from the aviary near the Bunbury library after a hole was cut in the metal fencing.

South West Avicultural Society president Terry Ashton said the cage was cut earlier this week but had now been fixed.

The escaped birds include two pink grey galahs, similar to the ones pictured, which were donated to the society.

Mr Ashton believes aviary was cut by “vandals” who don’t believe birds should be caged.

He says the cage has been cut twice in the past two months.

However, Mr Ashton said the released birds had been hand-reared and would not survive in the wild.

Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
