Women are invited to the Big Swamp Bird Park for a Sunday afternoon picnic, courtesy of the Country Women's Association Southern Belles.

The belles are looking for potential members to come down to the park and find out about the women's social club.

President Rachelle Johnstone, 29, said she joined the Southern Belles four years ago to meet new people and hoped the picnic would give the same opportunity to other women.

The group, which is based in Bunbury, has about 10 members and activities are designed to be "family-friendly".

The group meets in the evening and social events are held mostly on weekends.

"It is chance for people to meet the current members and to find out what we do and make new friends," Mrs Johnstone said.

"We are a group of young women - most of us work and have young families and we do a bit of work around the community and hang out."

The Southern Belles formed in 2009 in a bid to promote younger women joining the CWA while also continuing the traditions of the association.

Women are able to bring their children and friends to the picnic, from 2pm, and are asked to bring a plate of food to share.
