Kings, queens, knights and princesses brought their royal presence to St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School last month for its annual Bookweek parade.

Dressing to the theme, ‘Kingdom of Books,’ the students channelled their favourite fairy tale characters from books read during the school term.

Library teacher Marina Leatherbarrow said some of the costumes were incredible and at the end of the parade, every student received a lolly bag prize.

“It doesn’t matter how simple or extravagant it is, they have all made an effort,” she said.

“They all get to walk the catwalk, they all get their time to shine.”

It was a day for families to be involved, with many parents helping out with the costumes and attending the parade.

“Some of the hand-made things — they were amazing,” Mrs Leatherbarrow said.

“Our Bookweek parade is definitely the busiest day in the undercover area and the parents get just as much enjoyment from it as the kids.”
