A number of groups have claimed a patch of soil and are digging in to help the Bunbury Community Garden thrive.

College Row Community School, Community First, PCYC and Bubs n’ Grubs - Investing in our Youth have all staked a claim to help the garden spread its roots in response to calls for expressions of interest.

Located behind the Withers Library, the garden will also blossom through infrastructure upgrades with work starting soon on a gazebo and retaining wall thanks to a State Government grant. Gardeners will also be able to use on-site toilet facilities provided as part of the Withers Action Plan.

Community development officer Elizabeth Larkin said the garden was about more than growing fresh produce.

“The garden is designed to be a hub where people from all walks of life can come together,” she said.

Ms Larkin said the garden provided a relaxed and social setting where people could do something together to benefit the wider community.
