Get ready to rev at Targa Sprint in Bunbury
Bunbury will be the home of motorsport in regional WA next week and three cars driven by three mates will look to make the inaugural Targa Bunbury Sprint their event.
Will White, Bill Stagoll and Brendon Attard work on their cars out of Attard’s Bunbury-based business, Southwest Brakes and have all three of their mean machines set to compete in the next week’s big race.
Stagoll will have his wife as co-driver for the sprint in their Mitsubishi Evo 8 RS, while White will drive his Evo 9 MR and Attard will get behind the wheel of a R34 Skyline.
The three drivers compete in rallies all over the State, with their favourite event being the Targa West Rally based out of the northern suburbs of Perth.
But the excitement was clear for the drivers, with a chance to show their skills in the South West presenting them a new challenge.
Stagoll said it was exciting to compete in Bunbury.
“We used to have bike races here and drags on the foreshore, so it is good to have something back here,” he said.
“This is more fun than anything else.
“It will be interesting if it is wet. Hopefully it is dry.”
Stagoll said the course, which featured 17 corners would be a test for the drivers.
“We do it both ways, so it changes a bit when you change the direction,” he said.
“Hopefully it grows and becomes something else.
“Hopefully there is a few people down there who sit there with barbecues and eskys or in the grandstands and have some fun.”
The Targa Bunbury Sprint will take place on Sunday, June 26 in the Halifax Light Industrial Area.
