Getting fired up for open day

Meet emergency service workers and have a go using a fire extinguisher at the Eaton-Australind Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service open day this Saturday.

Police and St John Ambulance officers will join volunteer fire fighters for the open day at the Hamilton Road station in Eaton.

Lt Richard Constantine said the day would be an ideal opportunity for parents to introduce their children to emergency service providers.

The open day will include a sausage sizzle, live demonstrations and station and truck tours.

Firefighters will use a simulated house fire to illustrate how fast fire spreads.

The open day runs from 10am until 3pm.
