Singer-songwriter Claire Anne Taylor was given a giant head start on her music career when she took won the 2013 annual Byron Bay Bluesfest Busking Competition.

Having just finished her studies in international relations, Taylor decided to give her music career a go, having put it "on the backburner" for many years.

She moved from her home in the family barn in the middle of Tasmania's remote Tarkine Rainforest to the bright lights of Byron Bay to hopefully make a go of her true passion.

"I got a great step up straight away by winning that competition," Taylor said.

"And then a lot of opportunities opened up for me, in and around the Byron Bay area, so I decided to move there and focus on those."

Part of the prize for winning the busking competition was the chance to record at Studios 301 in Byron Bay, where Taylor got to work with producer and now friend Murray Burns.

Taylor's plan was to record a single and maybe an EP, but the possibilities continued to expand.

Her album, _Elemental _, due to be released in March, was the result of months of work with Burns and will be the focus point of her WA tour.

Taylor will be treating Bunbury audiences to a sneak preview of her content, when she visits the Prince of Wales Hotel on February 25, two weeks ahead of the album's official launch.

One of the songs, titled _ Judge _, was inspired by her four nieces and four nephews who call her Aunty Bonkers.

"The song was inspired by children and what we can learn from them," Taylor said.

"I just always feel really inspired by how open and accepting children are, as they seem to be free from the prejudices and discrimination that I think we learn as adults.

"The song is really about having an open heart and letting the love that somebody gives, be the judge of their character rather than any other aspect of the person."

Taylor will put a full stop on her WA tour with a special appearance at this year's Nannup Music Festival.

"After that, I am back to Byron Bay and I will then be touring the whole of the east coast, so the Sunshine Coast, right down to Tasmania and back up again," Taylor said.

"I am looking forward to playing at lots of venues and sharing the songs to try and get the album out there as much as we can."
