Bunbury's biggest music event goes down this weekend, with an impressive line-up of local, national and international acts taking to the stage for Groovin' the Moo at Hay Park tomorrow.

Five times ARIA award-winners Boy and Bear will be part of the line-up and bass player David Symes spoke to the South Western Times ahead of the band's first appearance at the festival.

He said crowds could expect a bunch of songs from all their records - including a few old favourites - on a high-powered festival set.

Since releasing their latest album Limit of Love last October the band has hit the ground running and were stoked to perform in some of the best venues in Australia and Europe.

"We've worked hard across all three records to push it overseas and in Australia and I guess it was always one of our ambitions to play in Europe and America," Symes said.

"Obviously in Australia it is our home turf but it is a different thing and we like to extend our selves and for our music to reach large audiences and you do that by travelling.

"We are doing so many shows in different environments, like we can go from playing a big festival show to playing an amazing small club in the middle of Norway and you learn from playing in different environments."

The sound of the band has evolved and their international experience has influenced that, he said.

Dave Hosking is their main lyricist and a lot of the music is based on an internal monologue, especially when they spend a lot of time touring together.

"The band is pretty tight, it is kind of amazing, we are lucky and no one has got into trouble with each other and we tour in a really healthy way," he said.

"We all like a lot of the same things and it's not like we have a really different point of view on what we should be doing and we respect each other's space - we are one big happy family."
