Plenty of hip dance moves and an enthusiastic crowd created the ultimate atmosphere for New Zealand singer-songwriter Stan Walker’s first ever appearance in Bunbury last night (Wednesday November 4).

Support acts X-Factor contestants The Fisher Boys, hip-hop dance duo The Oneill Twins and The Voice Australia’s Scott Newnham tore up the stage which delivered the perfect entrance for Walker.

As the only non-New Zealand born talent, Newnham introduced himself as a previous housemate of Walker’s, when they both competed on Australian Idol in 2009.

When Walker graced the stage just after 9pm, he was welcomed with a wall of noise and a room full of fellow Kiwis ready to shake their booties.

Opening with his debut single Black Box, it was clear to fans Walker felt at home on stage, joining his dancers to bust a few moves.

Following with covers such as Stevie Wonder’s Signed Sealed Delivered and Bob Marley’s anthem Every Little Thing is Going to be Alright, fans were impressed with Walker’s lively delivery and confidence.

If Walker returns to Bunbury in the near future (which I hope he does) I would definitely recommend going along for a fun night out – just make sure you pack your dancing shoes.
