Colts stalwart Murray Goodwin has finally cracked the ton, hitting an unbeaten 141 in his side’s 117-run victory over Dalyellup Beach at Dalyellup College on Saturday.

The century was Goodwin’s first this season, having hit four half centuries from five matches, giving him an average of 246.5.

With captain Tim Hutchison missing due to injury, all-rounder Cruise Ciallella took the reins as skipper and was soon in the action, winning the toss and choosing to bat.

Ciallella opened with young batsman Jayden Goodwin, but the partnership lasted just two runs as the latter nicked a delivery by Daniel Lomax to wicketkeeper Paul Jones without troubling the scorers.

This brought in his father, who batted with Ciallella (49) for more than 90 minutes, putting on a 109-run partnership.

Goodwin hit three sixes and 13 fours off 136 balls to lead the visitors to a competitive score of 237 for the loss of just three wickets in their 50 overs.

Dalyellup’s run chase got off to a horror start when opener Ben Lagana was dismissed for just five, bowled by Jack Wilson.

Wilson then had first drop Corey Fagan trapped in front for a duck, leaving the home side sitting on just 19 runs for the loss of two wickets.

Jones then put on a rescue mission, playing with confidence and patience, scoring 41.

But when he was caught by Nick Barr off the bowling of Joe Barningham things went down hill very quickly for Dalyellup.

The home side lost their last seven wickets for just 38 runs, as Barningham (3-31 off 10 overs), Wilson (2-23 off six overs) and Ethan Kelly (2-1 off 1.4 overs) ripped through the middle and bottom order, backed up by some good run outs from keeper James Stynes and Murray Goodwin.

Colts will take on the in-form Marist at Forrest Park this weekend, while Dalyellup Beach will battle reigning premiers Hay Park on Saturday.
