As is so often the case in Bunbury and Districts Cricket Association first grade competition, Murray Goodwin fired and Colts won.

The former Zimbabwean Test player and Western Warrior hit an unbeaten 88 as his side won their fifth game of the season, beating Leschenault by 48 runs.

Colts hit 3-224 from their 50 overs with no Leschenault bowler able to take multiple wickets.

Leschenault hit early stumbling blocks in their reply, slipping to 3-34, before a 70-run partnership between Tom and Matt Buchanan boosted the Green Caps’ chances.

When Matt, the team’s top scorer with 40, fell it prompted a collapse where the visitors lost 6-40.

Ethan Kelly did the most damage for Colts, taking 3-32 from his 10 overs, while Josh Topliss dismissed both Leschenault openers en route to 2-12 from seven overs.

Tim Hutchison (2-36 from five overs) also claimed multiple wickets after earlier hitting 44 to get his team off to a strong start. Youngster Jayden Goodwin also hit 33 in a 76-run opening stand with Hutchison as Colts posted a strong total.
