Improving the infrastructure of a vital sporting organisation in Bunbury and further investment in the community’s youth, will be made possible by funding from the South West Regional Grants Scheme.

The City of Bunbury Surf Life Saving Club received almost $200,000 for a major project to upgrade its kitchen and dining facilities and Investing In Our Youth received $73,600 for its Harnessing the Power of Community to Improve Outcomes for Children project.

Bunbury MLA John Castrilli presented both organisations with the grants last week and said community organisations were the heart of our city and region.

“The surf lifesaving club feels this is a very important project to improve safety and hygiene and will assist in the drive for a larger membership base and more patrolling members,” Mr Castrilli said.

Investing In Our Youth executive officer Carmen Gregg said the money would help the organisation expand on activities and parent information workshops.

The services are offered through the Child and Parent Centre Carey Park.

The Child and Parent Centre was established by the State Government at Carey Park Primary School in 2012.
