Grey day for White after loss

Tornadoes Grey picked up an unexpected win in Bunbury Basketball Association’s Dale Alcock Homes A-Grade competition on Friday night, beating an undermanned Aces White 77-57.

Grey had a blistering first quarter that gave them a 21-point lead at quarter time and White were unable to get back into the game.

Young gun Tyrone Winder top scored for Grey with 23 points and was backed up by Liam Tilbrook (16 points) and Brandon Bennell (11 points), while Matt Germs was White’s best with 29 points.

Aces Navy beat Busselton 62-57 on Busselton’s home court at Geographe Leisure Centre, with Jeremy Paull scoring a game-high 29 points for the winners.

Clayton Dickinson added 11 points for Navy, while Beau Chinnery (17 points) and Matt Mansfield (14 points) were Busselton’s best.

Bulls Maroon came away with a 101-74 win over Tornadoes Red, with Wade Hitchcock hitting five three-pointers on his way to 27 points.

Paddy Phillips and James Goodlad scored 18 points each for the winning side, while Jordan Sears (24 points) and Craig Kamocha (14 points) were Red’s best.

Bulls Gold suffered their first loss of the season with Tornadoes Black coming away with a 15-point victory to equal Gold’s 7-1 win/loss record at the top of the ladder.

In the women’s matches, Tornadoes beat Aces Navy 81-53 with Tayah Burrows scoring a game-high 22 points.

Tayla Kemp (18 points) and Dena English (15 points) were also solid, while Navy were led by Raya Thompson (16 points) and Kate Fielding (14 points).

Aces White defeated Busselton 92-47 with Tiahna Sears scoring a season-high 36 points for the winners.

Shannon Verhagen added 14 points for White. Felicity Jones scored 19 points for Busselton.
