Griffin offers workers holidays

MITCHELL WOODCOCKSouth Western Times

Griffin Coal has offered voluntary annual leave to its employees as a result of its inability to return to full production.

The Collie-based mine has been struggling with operation since its contractor, Carna Civil and Mining, ceased work earlier this month due to a pay dispute.

A Griffin Coal spokesman said the company was working on all fronts to address the lack of equipment and reduce operating costs in order to make the Collie business sustainable.

“We are very aware that employees are concerned about their future and that it is frustrating to come to work and not be very productive,” he said.
