A trailer that was going to be used to help the victims of the devastating Waroona bushfires was stolen yesterday.

One of BlazeAid’s “tradie trailers” was stolen from its Waroona base camp between 7am and 2pm.

Bolt cutters were believed to be used to cut the chain connected to the brand new trailer worth about $4700.

BlazeAid is a volunteer-based organisation that has been helping with the re-build of Waroona in the wake of the recent fires.

Vice president and coordinator of the Waroona camp Brian Carr said the trailer contained only a small number of hand tools.

“That particular trailer was in the process of being fitted out so it didn’t have anything too expensive inside,” he said.

Mr Carr said while no one saw anything suspicious, trailers were hooked up and taken away all the time.

“Someone may have seen something but might not have thought anything of it,” he said.

The trailer has a polished aluminium exterior and two doors on each side that pull upwards.

The keys for the trailer doors are still with BlazeAid.

Mr Carr said it was a “brazen theft” and he hoped that with the assistance of police and the community, they will get the trailer back.
