Having recently finished their Future Music tour, hip hop trio Hilltop Hoods will be primed and ready to perform for fans at this year’s Groovin’ the Moo.

Chatting to Debris, one part of the trio, he seemed to have nothing but praise for his mates MC Suffa and Pressure, who he met through a mutual friend.

“We just clicked straight away – we had similar tastes in music and we were pumping out tracks in the first couple of times we met,” Debris said.

Described as a “lifelong friendship” the band has gone from leaps and bounds with their journey as Hilltop Hoods.

Their road to success includes receiving many ARIA awards, setting up an initiative to support up-and-coming hip hop artists in Australia and also producing the biggest selling Australian hip hop album of all time in 2009.

The first album, The Calling changed the course of how much time the band spent seriously producing music and began the transition into full time musicians.

“Those lyrics seemed to resonate with people more than expected – it was an amazing thing for us.

“It was something we never expected but something we are still very grateful for,” Debris said.

Their “epic journey” has taken the band to some of the most amazing corners of the world, including Switzerland and South Korea, but for Debris coming back to perform in Bunbury will be a welcomed experience.

“We have done Groovin’ the Moo there before and we have had amazing responses there.

“It is a very beautiful part of Australia and always seems to be a great crowd who are hungry for live music.”

A “well-oiled machine” after a summer of touring Debris said fans can expect a lot of their new material from their latest album Walking Under Stars.

“We might throw in a sneaky new track that we have never done live before, I’m hoping.

“We are dying to get back there,” Debris said.
