It's gold! gold! for media producer

South Western Times

Two very different productions have won the team at Bunbury's Lomax Media team two Gold Remi Awards at the prestigious World Fest Film and Television Awards held in Houston, Texas, in April.

The first Gold was awarded in the section for “Best Feature Made for Cable or Television” and was for coverage of the 2010 WA Volunteer Fire and Rescue State Championships held in Busselton.

Lomax Media had three cameras covering the event over the weekend of the Championships, which was produced into a 30 minutes show for Foxtel.

Such was the response from the show, that Lomax Media have now also covered the 2010 Easter Championships for the WA VFR, which has been broadcast on Foxtel, and are currently editing a full hour package version of the 2011 Easter Championships.

“We learnt a lot from that first show and now cover the Championships with 6 cameras” said Dean Lomax, owner of Lomax Media.

“The coverage of the Easter 2011 Championships will be very spectacular as we have placed mini High Definition cameras on board the carts, on the competitors and also hanging off the towers to give the viewers some very interesting perspectives and angles”.

An interesting side note from the coverage of the 2010 event that won the Gold Remi, was that one of the crew was a media student from Georgina Molloy College in Busselton.

Kyle Smith had done work experience with Lomax Media prior to the event and showed excellent promise as a camera operator, so was employed to drive one of the cameras over the weekend.

He did such a good job that Lomax Media now hire Kyle whenever they require extra camera operators on events they cover.

The second Gold Award was won in the section of “Best Apparel or Accessories” TV Commercial and was for a TV commercial that was produced for local Busselton company Fusion Jewelers.

The commercial was directed by Sharon Lomax, shot by Aaron Johnstone and starred local model Ronnie Goeber.

The spot was shot on the famous Busselton Jetty, and styled by Dean and Sharon's daughter, Bunbury model Caitlin Lomax who is based in Singapore.
