Festival chairman David Barton said Thompson was one of the greatest figures of Australian film.

``To have Jack here to attend CinefestOZ presenting his film and to receive our Screen Legend Award at this event is a special honour for our festival and a tribute to its growth,” he said.

``Jack will join Australian director and actress Rachel Ward who will present her world premiere ABC Production An Accidental Soldier, as part of the festival line-up.

``We will be making further announcements in the lead up to the festival about our special film industry guests.”

Thompson, a film and television legend is best known for the Chant of Jimmy Blacksmith, Breaker Morant, The Man from Snowy River and more recently The Great Gatsby.
