Lack of parking sets poor precedent: planners

South Western Times

A $7 million-plus four-storey office building on the corner of Victoria and Clifton streets in Bunbury has been approved by the Joint Development Assessment Panel.

The decision has led to criticism from Bunbury City Council staff who say the developer should provide a cash contribution to the council to make up for not providing the required number of car parking bays.

Council staff said the amount of unrealised cash-in-lieu funds was between $775,000 to more than $1 million.

City planners said the move set an “undesirable precedent”.
