Bunbury could become the film capital of WA after an agreement between one of Asia’s biggest film companies, the State Government and Bunbury City Council was signed today.

The Memorandum of Understanding sets out to build a five-storey film studio and learning facility in Bunbury which would cater for about 300 students.

Chinese animation studio Shanghai Hippo Animation and Bunbury business Vue Group already have contracts for animated films worth $160 million and this could grow with the construction of the facility.

Hippo chief executive officer Kerr Xu said Bunbury was chosen because it had plenty of potential.
