In a South West first, Bunbury Hospital will trial Radio Lollipop in its children's ward in June.

Radio Lollipop director Sandra Ursino said the trial was a direct result of the fundraising efforts at last year's Girls Night Out to Celebrate Friendship which raised $28,000.

This year the event is being held at the Sanctuary Golf Resort on May 21 and Radio Lollipop is hoping the community and businesses will support the event.

"Radio Lollipop brightens the spirits of sick children and entertains them in hospital," Ms Ursino said.

"Being able to trial Radio Lollipop in Bunbury at no cost to the hospital is the result of funds raised from last year.

"The radio provides another opportunity for kids to use their imagination and another activity they can turn their attention to."

Event organiser Sandra Jackson said donations had been slow to come in because a lot of businesses had already donated to the Yarloop bushfires.

"This year we are hoping to raise $30,000 from the event and we have struggled to get donations for prizes from local businesses because many have already given to the bushfire funds," she said.

"The money will go towards getting the radio station up and running, repainting the kids wall in the hospital and some new furniture for the activity room."
