Look who's moving to Capel ...

Capel residents are being warned following apparent sightings of a big creature, possibly green in colour and wearing strange clothing.

The Capel Community Promotions group believe the creature could be a troll migrating to the town’s curved wooden bridge he intends to call home for the remainder of his troll life.

The not-for-profit group has been anticipating the troll’s arrival for six months, when an idea for a resident troll in the form of street art originated.

The idea – which started out as a joke – has taken off, according to committee member Kathleen Mawer.

“We have received a lot of support from local businesses who are also making donations, ” Mrs Mawer said.

“People overall are quite happy to see something happening in Capel.”

The troll, whose name is yet to be revealed, will be making his debut before the town’s people on November 28.

But until then he is leaving a trail of intrigue with apparent ‘sightings’ already by residents at Peppermint Grove Beach and along the riverbank into Capel.

Mrs Mawer said the troll appeared harmless and residents should be on the lookout for big, troll-like footprints.

The group will welcome Capel’s newest resident with a scavenger hunt, sausage sizzle and free entertainment at Apex Park on the day of his debut.

Plans are in place for mini troll replicas, t-shirts, key rings and puzzles, with all money going to the group for future events such as its Christmas in Capel next month.
