Animals, games and colourful characters will make for an enjoyable day when the Bunbury Show hits Hay Park on Saturday.

The show will include a range of activities for all age groups, and the spectacle will culminate with fireworks at 8pm.

Mascots including Minnie Mouse, Dave the Minion and Chester the Times Tiger will be ready to meet children during the day.

Show coordinator Rosina Mogg said there were a number of new events at this year's show, which she hoped would attract families.

"It's all about free family fun at the Bunbury Show this year," she said.

"We've got a bubble station, free wagon rides and a rainbow trail for children, which encourages them to visit all the events at the show," she said.

"One of the new events this year is K9 Connection, which is a dog agility event and we are hoping each activity attracts a good audience.

Mrs Mogg said preparations for this year's event were going well as the weather forecast predicted a pleasant day.

"There is lots of food this year including food trucks and plenty of stalls, 150 in total, which will have all types of things," she said.

"There is also the LiveLighter stage with entertainment from a number of local acts and people can sit and enjoy the music.

"We are expecting about 12,000 to 15,000 people on Saturday and an event like this couldn't work without our sponsors and volunteers."

Mrs Mogg said events on Sunday would include equestrian competitions including show jumping and mounted games.
