Man charged after crash

A 24-year-old man has been charged with crashing into another car in an alleged “road rage” attack in this morning.

South West Traffic officer in charge Sgt Craig Clarke said the man, driving a Ford Falcon, allegedly drove into a Holden sedan driven by a 58-year-old woman north on Australind Bypass near Vittoria Road at 9am.

The impact forced her car to veer to the other side of the bypass, hitting an upcoming vehicle before it stopped in a drainage ditch.

The woman was trapped in her car and firefighters had to cut her out before she was taken to Bunbury Hospital.

Sgt Clarke alleged the two cars were involved in a “road rage” incident in the lead-up to the incident.

After the initial crash the 24-year-old man allegedly hit another car, a red Mitsubishi, which was driven by a woman who had her five-year-old son in the car.

Her car was forced to the left of the road and struck a light pole before it stopped in a ditch.

Sgt Clarke said at this stage no one involved in the incidents was seriously injured.

The man was interviewed by police and charged with dangerous driving causing bodily harm.

Sgt Clarke said the man could face more charges from the incident.

The 24-year-old man will appear in the Bunbury Magistrates Court on December 20.
