With the marron season now in full swing and almost at an end with only nine days left, I suggest if you haven't already been, then you should get out there and get amongst it.

Places such as Wellington and Harvey dams are both snare-only trophy waters, which means a bag limit of five and minimum size of 90mm heads. Other places such as Preston, Warren, Harvey, Donnelly, Collie and the deep rivers are all awesome spots to go and spend the afternoon marroning.

Boat fishers have been doing very well with solid reports of snapper and dhufish out of the Bunbury and Geographe Bay area with fish of all sizes been accounted for. Snapper are great sport fish and on the right gear go super hard, big head shakes and pulsating runs that get your heart well up into your throat.

Crabs are out and about walking around in most parts of the Australind Estuary. Scooping after dark or drop netting during the day in the deeper waters is the way to go.

Big blueys (male blue swimmer crabs) are normally chock-a-block full of meat this time of year and are as sweet as Aunt May's apple pie.

Yellowfin whiting flood the beaches north of Bunbury this time of year.

Small pieces of prawn or freshly dug worms are top notch bait.

Tailor and herring are also around along with some decent sharks after dark for those who want to stretch their arms.
