May wins by a knockout

South Western Times

Nathaniel May outboxed Quinton Donahue to claim his third victory and maintain his perfect record in a burgeoning professional career in Perth on Friday.

May won by technical knockout with 24 seconds remaining in the second round after knocking Donahue down for the second time.

Donahue tumbled early in the round after a darting right hand caught him on the chin, and he fell again for good after a well executed flurry of powerful body and headshots.

May’s Denning Boxing Gym trainer Pete Stokes said the young Bunbury boxer continued to show improvement in the ring.

“Nathaniel is just getting better and better as the opponents get tougher,” he said.

“Quinton is a former Australian champion with a lot of experience behind him so this was not an easy fight but Nathaniel boxed off a nice tight guard and used tight angles to set up his combinations.

“He really looked like a first class fighter in the ring on Friday.”

May’s next professional fight is just over two weeks away against Thailand’s Amnart Pakdee Gym at Kingsway Indoor Stadium in Madeley.

“Amnart has won eight of his 12 professional fights so it is another step up in class for Nathaniel,” Stokes said.

“I think the fight will likely go the distance but Nathaniel is still expecting to come out on top.”
