Mens' voices raised in song for bushfires
St Augustine Uniting Church was packed to capacity on Saturday for a bushfire fundraiser concert.
More than 270 people listened to the Bunbury Men of Song and Pipe Organ Society of WA on an afternoon described by the Rev. Greg Ross from the church as "fantastic".
Mr Ross said more than $7000 was raised from the concert, which complemented $13,000 raised by a similar concert at Wesley Uniting Church in Perth on Sunday.
Mr Ross will meet with the Salvation Army today to discuss the distribution of more than $20,000.
He said audience members had said the concert exceeded their expectations: "They said 'we knew it was going to be good but it was better than we imagined'," he said.
He said the church was fortunate to have restored the pipe organ two years ago using parts from organ builder John Larner's Yarloop shed, which was lost in the bushfire.
