More arrests over daylight attack
Two men and a juvenile have been charged over the vicious attacks on three 16-year-old schoolboys in Bunbury.
A police spokeswoman said a 19-year-old man was charged with attempted aggravated robbery and aggravated robbery alongside a 24-year-old man who was also charged with attempted aggravated robbery and two counts of aggravated robbery.
A 16-year-old boy was also charged with attempted aggravated robbery and two counts of aggravated robbery.
The charges stemmed from an assault on three 16-year-old boys in two separate attacks.
The first assault took place about 3.50pm on March 24 when two 16-year-old boys were on their way home after getting off a bus.
The alleged offenders went up to the pair near the skate park on Blair Street to ask if they had any money.
After the boys said no, the trio allegedly set upon the two boys, attacking them from behind.
The grandmother of one of the injured boys said the trio punched the two boys in the back of the head and in their face.
She said two men at the nearby Bunbury Rowing Club saw the attack and the attackers fled.
A wallet and mobile phone was stolen.
Less than half an hour later, another 16-year-old boy was assaulted allegedly by the same three offenders.
The offenders again asked for money and when the boy declined, he was assaulted near the Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre.
A wallet, iPod, and sports bag were stolen.
The property was discovered metres away, but $20 was taken from the wallet.
The 19 and 24-year-old men are due to appear in the Bunbury Magistrates Court this week and the 16-year-old boy is due to appear in the Perth Children’s Court at the end of the week.
