Music students rock Bunbury bar

Talented students from Bunbury’s Rock N Roll High will perform in the school’s inaugural showcase at the Eliot Street Bar this month.

Showcase organiser and drum teacher Jayden Williamson said 18 students from both Rock N Roll High and the Southern College of Music were selected as the most promising and deserving of a spot in the limelight.

He said the event had been in the pipeline since last year, but the planning really kicked in about two months ago.

Bowden McAllister, lead vocalist and back up guitarist for four-piece Copyright, said he was looking forward to the gig.

“I’ve been taking vocal lessons at Rock N Roll High for four years and have performed in a half dozen shows with the school so far,” he said.

“Copyright is a rock band, one of the songs we cover is Live’s Lightning Crashes but the rest of the set list is a surprise.”

School owner and manager Louise Kirk said the showcase was an opportunity for students who were not old enough to show off their talents in a realistic gig.

“They are standout performers who have gone the extra yard,” she said.

The all-ages gig starts at 5.30pm on September 22 and tickets costs $15 at the door.
