Netball: Jets snuff out Flames
The Griffin Souwest Jets have continued their upbeat start to the State Netball League season, the side crushing arch-rivals Wheatbelt Flames in Perth last night 55-38.
After rejoining the top-flight SNL in 2011, the victory was the Jets second in as many games after defeating Swan Rangers in their debut match last week.
South West Goalies Zoe Alberti and Kylie Stoltze starred in a performance that coach Michelle Willsher said made the Wheatbelt defenders look `second rate.’
“Alberti and Stoltze had several periods where they made the defenders look second rate’,” she said.
“We moved swiftly in attack, and the team played with a team and with their heads – they really capitalized on working as a team.
``There were a mountain of turnovers that were caused by two or three players working together.’’
The Jets will this weekend have their sternest SNL test yet when they meet premiership fancies who cruised to a devastating 72-26 victory over Rangers last night in their first game of the season.
