"Nightmare" on Beach Road as airborne car slams wall

Homeowners on Beach Road have avoided a disaster after a car slammed into a wall at the front of a house this morning.

A witness said the crash was “nightmarish” as she saw the whole incident unfold from her living room about 11am.

She said the car hit a tree and spun 360 degrees while airborne before slamming into the wall of her next-door neighbour’s house.

South West traffic police said the driver was travelling west on Beach Road when it appeared he had lost control on a bend near Joseph Buswell Road.

The driver and his passenger were not injured.

Police are investigating the crash.
