There is still time to nominate someone who deserves recognition for hard work and dedication to their community.

Nominations for the Shire of Manjimup’s 2017 Australia Day citizenship awards close on Monday.

The four award categories are citizen of the year, citizen of the year under 25 years old, citizen of the year over 65 years old and active citizenship for a community group or event.

Manjimup shire president Wade DeCampo encouraged people to nominate the shire’s “unsung community heroes” who deserve recognition.

“We don’t get any other opportunity throughout the year to publicly recognise the difference that a person, group or event has made in the community,” he said.

“This sort of reinforcement gives people the thanks that they truly deserve and hopefully encourages them to continue their good work in the community and inspire others to do the same.”

Nominations can be made at www.citizenshipawards.com.au or written nominations to the council’s administration office or public libraries.
