Obal resigns as Tigers coach
David Obal has resigned as league coach of the South Bunbury Football Club.
Tigers club president John Castrilli told the South Western Times that assistant coach Mal Dreja would oversee coaching duties this Sunday against Busselton at Sir Stewart Bovell Park – with the club exploring its options early next week.
“We will meet as a board next Monday – trying to plot a way forward and look at our options,” he said.
Castrilli commended Obal’s tenure at the club and was heartened by the emergence of several young Tigers who have either graduated to league football or been given an opportunity with Swan Districts at WAFL level.
Obal’s resignation yesterday follows South Bunbury recording its lowest score in SWFL history on Saturday when the Tigers kicked only five points against Donnybrook.
